Amy is a Toronto based performer, choreographer and educator, who has loved and practiced the art of dance since the age of eight. Hailing from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Amy spent ten years as a co-founder, director, instructor and choreographer for Spirit of Dance. Seizing the opportunity to dance abroad, Amy continued her studies in France and Italy. Since moving to Toronto, Amy has performed with contemporary companies, Ismailova Theatre of Dance and The Parahumans. In 2012, Amy’s focus shifted to a more dedicated study of tap dance, with opportunities to perform with the Toronto Rhythm Initiative and at the Montreal Tap Festival. Amy has performed as a Tap Percussionist with The Red Rhythm, The Charlie Ringus Trio, and was a featured soloist with the Jason Raso Quartet in Jazz Goes to the Movies. As a member of What’s On? Tap!, an all female tap company directed by Kim Chalovich, she has performed at Dance Ontario, Pan Am Games, ECTC and CP24 Breakfast Television.Recent projects include: Featured role of The Nutcracker in City Dance Corps urban production of The Nutcracker. Creator and producer of the Tap Intensive: The Rhythm Lab in Thunder Bay. Amy is also the co-founder of Vintage Taps, an entertainment trio with a focus on tap dancing and singing songs from the Vaudeville Era. Founder of Sisu Dance Projects, which focuses on raising awareness on social issues through rhythm, movement, theatre and spoken word. Sisu Dance Projects is currently presenting excerpts from a full length project, If These Shoes Could Talk. Amy is continuing her studies in New York City at the American Tap Dance Foundation Tap Teacher Training Program.
