Team Audition

Baila District is hosting team auditions for all of 9 performance and non-performance dance teams. Dance teams is a unique way to train and improve by learning and ultimately performing a choreographed routine on stage. Each team will receive technique training specific for performance skills but also beneficial to dancer’s vocabulary, adaptability, agility, studiousness and stamina. In addition, teams are a great way to meet new people, create a community and travel together to national dance festivals.

Bachata Performance Teams:

1) Bachata Partner Teams

• Baila Primavera (Open-Level)

• Baila Republic (Intermediate)

• Baila Co-ed Advanced

2) Ladies Solo Bachata Styling

• Baila Mamacitas (Open-Level)

• Baila Ladies Advanced (Intermediate-Advanced)

Team Structure:

• 6 months+ commitment 

• Weekly training classes 1-2hr

• Weekly team practices 1-2hr

• Choreography focused with additional dance training

• Ultimate goal is performing one or two choreographies at end of each season

• Participation in team activities such as social gatherings, team outings, festival travels, volunteer at studio events

• Extra curricular guest workshop requirements min 4 hr per season

• Final performance roster subject to assessment from director

• Training instead of performing on teams is possible with director approval

• Monthly team fee do not include additional costs such as costume, shoes, festival passes, extra training

• Limited scholarships available - inquire with team director during audition

There is one audition time for all salsa teams and one audition time for all bachata teams. You can note your team preference in the survey. Results will be emailed out one week after auditions.
