Join Justin Grant for an uplifting song circle, blending elements of mantra music and medicine songs to bring us deeper into presence, into connection, and into our hearts. Accompanied by guitar, we will be singing simple songs with easy melodies that feel like they belong around a campfire, but also carry a deep emotional and devotional current. All musical skill levels are welcome, and zero prior experience is needed.

If you’re shy, come and grow into it. If you’re not shy, see how creative you can get as we open space for improvisation and harmonization and explore the edges of authentic expression (completely optional, of course). Feel free to bring shakers and percussion, and above all bring as much of yourself as you're comfortable sharing.

Music has this wonderful ability to bring us into resonance with one another, with the vibration that the songs carry, and with the transcendent, whatever that may be. It can stir up emotions and be deeply healing. It can also be a force and an embodiment of vocal liberation. So you may find yourself singing with a fuller voice over the course of the sessions, expanding your musicality, releasing creative blocks, and finding a greater sense of ease and playfulness with one another.

Facilitator Bio:

Justin Grant is a spoken word poet, musician, body-oriented energy healer, space holder and social entrepreneur. Through his work and loving presence he supports people to move through blockages and bring their bodies, hearts and minds into divine alignment. He helps people tap into softness, truth and creativity while also building out his own vision for a more beautiful and more harmonious world. Justin is a founding member of Heartsong, hosting monthly song circles and open mics as well as a weekend singing retreat in nature at the end of August (see heartsonggathering.com). His musical offerings take inspiration from kirtan and worship music as well as medicine songs and various folk / community singing traditions, with the intention of bringing the spirit of deep devotional (bhakti) practice down to earth and into the room.
