Description
This advanced yoga workshop may turn your ideas of Restorative Yoga...upside down! This three-hour session is intended for students and teachers who can safely explore inversions and back bends in a restorative context. (Contraindications include glaucoma, pregnancy and spinal issues.) Starting with a few basic ‘warm up’ restorative poses, we will move to explore Supported Bridge Pose, Legs Up the Wall, Supported Shoulder Stand and Supported Plow Pose to name a few, ending with traditional Savasana. Restorative Yoga is a blissful style that can benefit all yoga practitioners, creating balance in their asana practice. It is particularly beneficial to those who are coping with physical or emotional trauma. Inversions and backbends keep our hearts and minds open, keep the spine flexible and limber, and energize while relaxing. The basis for the workshop is Judith Lasater’s Level I and II Relax & Renew© Restorative Yoga training. Surya Devi has taught Restorative Yoga for seven years. She successfully completed the Relax & Renew© certification training, Level 1 and Level 2 with Judith Lasater. Ms. Lasater was a student of B.K.S. Iyengar and her Restorative Yoga techniques spring from that lineage of yoga. Feel free to bring personal blankets, pillows (including eye pillow) to the workshop.
