This course explores cancer and it’s causes with both the modern scientific understanding and the yogic perspective, focusing on managing the side effects, boosting Immunity and improving recovery for cancer survivors, with advice and information to assist the formation of yogic management plans for people with different types of cancer.
Participants will build awareness and understanding of cancer and it’s physical, emotional, and spiritual effects on clients and their families, and learn techniques and practices that will help with physical recovery and reclaiming trust, hope and acceptance as needed. Yoga teachers will gain an understanding of current treatments and their effects, as well as learn modifications, contraindications, and considerations for different types of cancer, preparing them to work effectively and with sensitivity with students dealing with cancer and their families. Emotional and spiritual elements that support cancer survivors are also introduced in a therapeutic context.
This course open to anyone working with cancer clients, but is most appropriate for yoga teachers with an RYT-200 or higher designation. This course is part of the Yoga Therapy 800 Course at Heartwood.
