(Ages: 11 and up.) Each class we will start with a tap warm up and some short exercises. Then we will do a jazz and technical warm up and a combination in a different musical theatre dance style. 

This class will advance the student’s knowledge in different styles of dance like; Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip hop, and Musical theater. Each week we will concentrate on furthering the student’s technique as well as learning some of Broadway’s most iconic choreography and styles. We will work on characterization of movement, using dance to tell a story, and understanding style! We will work on Chaines, pirouettes, battements, grand jetes, fan kicks, control, picking up choreography, and quality of movement!

If you are new to tap and looking to audition for CYPT this summer, you should try to take as much tap as possible!

Please wear clothing you can move in!

(This year masks will be optional. We do ask that if you are unvaccinated you wear a mask as we are in a room exercising and breathing heavily.) 

All our dance classes have no dress code as such, please wear clothing that is easy to move in and you feel comfortable stretching in, like yoga attire or running shorts. No shoes are a requirement for our dance classes. Students may use socks, gym shoes, or other dance shoes while in the studio space. 

(For classes with tap dancing you should have flat tap shoes. If you do not have tap shoes, you may wear hard soled gym shoes to class. We do recommend getting a cheap pair of flat tap shoes to be able to get the most out of the class. The shoes most often worn in these classes are jazz shoes, character heels and tap shoes or character heel taps, but again the students do not need these shoes to participate!)
