Description
Inversions are a wonderful and essential category of poses. In BKS Iyengar’s Light on Yoga, he called headstand the “king of all yoga asana and shoulderstand the queen.” He said, “the benefits from inversions are great, particularly to the circulatory, nervous, and endocrine systems”.
There is no doubt that these postures are incredibly effective for our mind and body. However, these poses can be intimidating and there are real concerns biomechanically that need to be addressed so you can perform them safely and effectively on your own or in classes. Mastering them can open up the wondrous benefits that they produce.
The most common misalignments and misunderstandings will be addressed and you will be taught how to safely fall out of them. Once understood, these lessons can be practiced regularly and will lead to mastery.
In this workshop the four main inversions that will be taught safely are:
Headstand (Sirsasana),
Shoulderstand (Sarvangasana)
Forearmstand (Pinchamayurasana)
Handstand (Ardha Mukha Vrksasana)
