Description
This course is available to women and their babies who have had their 6 week postnatal checkup and are given the go -ahead to begin gentle exercise. You can, of course, come along without your baby if you have someone to look after them.
Pilates is great for strengthening your core and helping to regain your pre-pregnancy abdominal strength. Most importantly, we will be focussing on strengthening the pelvic floor and lower abdominals. You will work up slowly and safely.
If you have a postnatal condition that you are concerned about, such as diastasis recti (abdominal separation) please let Mel know and she can give you some help and advice about that too.
It is also good for your mental health and general well-being. An opportunity to leave the house with or without your baby and meet other women in the same situation.
Sometimes you will get little done, especially if babies need feeding, but you will still be able to gain knowledge of the moves and practice later at home. It is also a great opportunity to bond with your baby and make connections with other new mums. Often, the postnatal classes are a woman’s first insight into this practice. This is how Mel started over twenty years ago!
