1 week(s)Description
Our school age camps (ages 6-12) run Monday to Friday from
9-noon or 1-4 pm. In addition to developing riding skills, children
learn how to read a horse’s body language and how to care for their
horse. Activities include grooming, feeding, tacking up, cleaning
tack and mucking stalls. You will find it hard to believe that the
same children who refuse to clean their rooms are super excited to
clean up horse poop!
On TRAIL RIDE day, children will get to explore Southlands on
horseback! For parents, Friday is HORSE SHOW day for children to
show off what they have learned.
Our camps are geared towards never-been-on-a-horse riders or
beginner riders. Older children, or those who can already canter
independently, might prefer our private lessons -- or try our Farm
Camps.
Many children spend the whole day on the farm... riding half the
day and at farm camp half the day. Lunch time supervision is
available.
Special Instructions
All activities take place in fresh air outdoors, and face masks
are optional. Your children will be in groups with no more than 3
other kids, and almost all activities will be done in those small
groups.
• To limit the number of people on the property, we generally do
not allow parents/siblings to remain on the property during camps.
No visitors at all are allowed on the farm between 9am and
4pm.
HORSE SHOW DAY - FRIDAY
There will be a horse show on Friday, and parents will be invited
to attend for a 20-minute window to watch your child's group. Exact
times will be sent out the week of your camp.
WHAT TO BRING
• Helmet Any sort of certified helmet will do,
