Yang is the masculine, the solar, or the energetic energy of
the universe. Yin is the feminine, lunar, or more passive energy of
the universe. In a Yin class you will begin with a warm up and then
move to poses more hip focused. You will use props as needed to
make yourself comfortable as you hold your poses for 3 - 6 minutes.
These poses are on the floor so you are not standing in a pose for
3 - 6 minutes. You are seated, propped, and comfortable.
It differs from restorative in that the poses are more
difficult and more active, yet you are still relaxing and resting
into the poses. If you would like to make your standing practice
must more fluid and easy, this class is a must do once a week. It
opens the toes, feet, ankles, knees, and especially the hips.
Energetically, we store karma and toxicity in the hips. Your hip is
your largest joint with the most connective tissue to soften and
mold. This class is generally dimly lit with candles. You feel soft
and pliable when you leave.
