Aerial Sling is a dynamic apparatus that is an aerial silk tied into a long hammock. This unique class allows students to utilize the hammock to climb, wrap and tie around the body to create fun poses, entrances and exits, transitions, small drops and dance movement.
Sling 3 – for intermediate/advanced students. Sling 3 is a multifaceted class that goes over use of both short and long sling choreography and vocabulary. Students will expect to learn intricate wraps, drops and long sequences. Also covered will be stamina and strength building choreography. Students must be very comfortable in the air.
Prerequisites (Must have instructor approval and ability to execute the below cleanly and with good technique):
-Ability to pullover into sling repeatedly
-Holding short arm for 5 seconds
-Standing inside sling to inversion and crochet feet
-Crossback straddle
-Catcher's wrap
-Hands free front balance
-Familiarity with salto drops
(Note: Aerial Sling is different from Aerial yoga but there are some similarities. They both utilize a silks hammock and are single point apparatus. The Aerial Sling class focuses more on continuous movement in the air and hammock while using a swivel to spin. Aerial Yoga classes uses a combination of grounding poses with the hammock to assist and remains static. Silks theory is covered in both curriculums. Sling is a traditional aerial apparatus and aerial yoga is a yoga practice designed around the hammock.)
