Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is the most widely researched program known to reduce stress and enhance well being. It is an eight-week program that introduces you to mindfulness practice in the form of sitting meditation, body awareness and mindful movement/yoga. It was created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD. at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979 and has been replicated in over 700 hospitals throughout the world since then. It has proven to be an incredibly effective tool for managing pain, depression, anxiety, and stress. Research also shows it’s effectiveness for improved attention, mental clarity, health and communication with others.The MBSR course includes 8 weekly sessions and a one-day silent retreat. Various mindfulness tools are introduced and practiced in a confidential group context.
