Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga in which there is a focus
on the structural alignment of the physical body through the
development of asanas. Through the practice of a system of asanas,
it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and
well-being.
Level I classes are oriented towards beginning students. In
these classes, students will learn and practice the most beneficial
and foundational forms, alignments, and actions of a wide range of
Yoga postures. Standing poses such as Warrior II and Tree pose,
basic Seated poses and Twists, along with beginning Backbends and
Shoulderstand are all covered in a safe, simple and clear way. Some
breath awareness and guided relaxation will also be included. This
is also a good class for experienced students with injuries to work
with simpler poses.
