Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini means energy. Kundalini yoga is a technology using a recipe of specific movement, combined with breath and meditation that is used to work on the chakras. It is yoga for the householder, it can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter what your experience, age or flexibility. It is the yoga of awareness, it has been designed so that you can surrender your ego and allow yourself to journey through your own experience. It teaches us to harness the energy of our mind and emotions so that we can be in control of ourselves, rather than being controlled by our thoughts and emotions.
A typical class will begin by ‘tuning in’ and a breathing practice to centre ourselves and bring us into the present moment. We move into a series of postures to stretch, relax, strengthen or energise us, which assists in moving any energy blocks and focusing the mind. A deep relaxation will then prepare us for a meditation. Tea is served at the end of the class and conversation is warmly welcomed.
