“Above the Mat” Aerial Yoga
Raja Yoga infused with the Aerial Hammock to create Flying Fitness Aerial Yoga Method, “Above the Mat”
Derived from the Sanskrit word “Yuji,” meaning yoke or union, yoga is an ancient practice that brings together mind and body. It incorporates breathing exercises, meditation, and poses designed to encourage relaxation and reduce stress.
Yoga means union. Etymologically, it is connected to the English word, yoke. Yoga means union with God, or, union of the little, ego-self with the divine Self, the infinite Spirit.
Most people in the West, and also many in India, confuse yoga with Hatha Yoga, the system of bodily postures. But yoga is primarily a spiritual discipline.
Hatha Yoga is the physical branch of Raja Yoga, the true science of yoga. Raja Yoga is a system of meditation techniques that help to harmonize human consciousness with divine consciousness.
In the Above the Mat series we use the Raja Yoga method infused with the Aerial Hammock for assistance and an awareness that is On and Off the mat, 360 style.
