Would you like to teach at hospitals, senior centers, or nursing homes? Learn how to teach Chair Yoga, Gentle Yoga and Therapeutic Yoga to this fast growing population . By adapting traditional yoga poses to work therapeutically on the floor or in a chair, you can bring the accessible benefits of yoga to those who can not do a 'generalized' yoga class.
Seniors age 65 and older represent the fastest growing population in the U.S., and are increasingly drawn to yoga for its proven health benefits. Yoga can be an excellent solution to many common health concerns found in that age group. Yet, many of our yoga classes are simply inaccessible to those who have significant health concerns. This 10-hour workshop will cover:
- How to safely and effectively teach yoga to older adults
- How to work with health conditions common to this age group including arthritis, osteoporosis, heart conditions, chronic pain, joint replacement and restricted range of motion.
- Special modifications to keep your yoga safe for everyone
- Yoga practices to improve bone mass, flexibility, enhance balance and elevate mood
