Songwriters! (And that means you even if you have yet to write a song) —
Put yourselves to work. You know you want to push your own boundaries and I happen to know you can write a new song every week. If you could ever make the time, how about we get up on top of this social isolation thing and take advantage.
I’ll be leading a weekly songwriting class: 8 weeks starting Monday May 4th—June 22.
Each week, we’ll meet for an hour+ wherein I’ll treat you to song examples to consider, riddles, a few new ways of examining songs you know, and then, most importantly, you will be given a multi-layered songwriting assignment, chock full of prodding prompts, rules!, treasure maps and puzzles that only you can unravel. Throughout the course I’ll provide extra pointers, some harmonic, some lyrical, some conceptual, to keep you going.
You will write a new song each week. I am pretty sure you will amaze yourself. Your songs will be shared in class each week, and we’ll have useful and substantial discussions about each student’s song; and then, of course, … you will receive the next song assignment.
Monday nights, for 8
weeks.
7pm-8pm (although probably more
like 8:30)
