The RYS-300 Daytime program for ages 50 plus provides an opportunity for local RYT-200 graduates to continue their education to become an RYT-500 certified yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. This course includes all the core requirements and competencies of our other RYS-300 courses, only the program is divided into shorter sessions during weekdays allowing students time to digest and savor the material as they spread their education out over a year of inspirational studies. Because this course is offered in 7 hour days, weekly, and spans a year, it is designed for local students only.
Students can join this program anytime, but the schedule traditionally begins each August and runs for a full year. (We release the schedules one year at a time, but for the purposes of personal planning, it is safe to assume the coursework listed below is generally offered in a similar way from year to year.)
Students who miss a unit due to travel or other issues can always substitute any of the schedule units with a weekend modular course offering instead to stay on track with the group and graduate within the year. Up to two substitutions are allowed, after which there is a modest fee for food that is a part of the weekend modular programs.
Required modules include: Yoga Philosophy 1: Yoga Sutras, Adv. Meditation, Adv. Pranayama, Chanting and Mudras, Advanced Teaching Skills, Intro to Yoga Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga, Intro to Ayurveda, Advanced Anatomy, and the Teaching Practicum (Students will teach and receive feedback).
Electives that are assigned to this daytime program include: Yoga Nidra, Yoga for Seniors, Restorative Certification, Yin Certification, Yoga for Seniors.
Additional substitutions (Aerial or select yoga therapy units ) are available as an alternative to the electives.
