***Beginning 6.23, this class will be both offered in person and via ZOOM for a discounted rate. Students will be required to sign up no less than 2 hours before class due to the nature of cleaning and preparation that needs to go into the classroom. It is our request that you do this so that the time of the teachers and interns are being respected.***

You will be required to wear a mask while in the studio. If you are taking a virtual class, you will be sent the link to the zoom 30 minutes before class begins on the first day.

BURLESQUE SESSIONLEVEL 2
 
COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course introduces musical theatre dance styles from the 1940s to the present. It includes the study of ballet, jazz and tap techniques to prepare students for performance in musical theatre. Intermediate turns will be taught.
 
 
 
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
 
1. Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force, and reproduce accurately through their own body.
 
2. Analyze a dance performance in terms of choreography, performance, and theatrical elements.
 
3. Demonstrate clarity of intent while applying kinesthetic principles for all dance elements.
 
 
 
DESCRIPTION: Chorus/Ensemble only series focuses on intermediate level cabaret dance and burlesque movement within group dance routines. Each semester is broken down into 3 months, with 2 different choreographies being taught, one chair number, and one conceptual/modern/jazz. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for 12 weeks, minus holidays. All workshops will be held on Sundays.
 
 
COURSE OUTCOMES: These classes will allow students to have a skill assessment, and those who meet performance criteria will be eligible to perform in CBR Main Stage or DebuTease Shows with an instructor.
 


A Note from Metropolitan Studios: Please be aware that we have 2 studio cats that live at the studio, but they will stay upstairs during class time. 

PARKING: You may park around back, but please be sure to not block the mailbox, the entrance or the exits as this is a business that flows frequently, and we don't want anyone to lose precious learning time due to car juggling. We appreciate your cooperation.

POLICIES FOR CLASSES

  • This class requires a minimum student registration to make. Class will be cancelled no later than two hours prior to start of class.
  • No refunds..studio credit only.
  • It is the student's responsibility to monitor the expiration date. We will not extend the dates of any single class or class card. No exceptions.
  • Class cards and credits can NOT be shared or transferred to another student.
  • You must notify Metropolitan Studios at least 3 hours prior to class starting or class will be deducted from your account and considered "used" even though you were not present.
  • All prices and services are subject to change without notification.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to participate in any class.
  • No nudity.
  • There is always a possibility of adult themes and language usage in this class, we apologize in advance.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Metropolitan Studios/The Atlanta School of Burlesque will make every effort to contact students if classes are cancelled due to inclement weather. Our primary way of communication is via email and then by phone if necessary. Please make sure your student profile is up to date.
