Yin is a deep stretching practice where postures are held longer (2 to 5 minutes). Where we come to our breath as we sink or melt into the pose. In Yin we are not as concerned with the perfect alignment as we are in a flow class but are looking to find a comfortable starting point and slowly as the body allows sink deeper. This type of yoga allows you to loosen up the connective tissues, which cannot be stretched but stressed and softened. Because of the long holds this is a very meditative practice that allows you to go deeper into yourself body and mind. Poses are timed so you completely balance the body from side to side. A totally excellent practice for those that enjoy repetitive motion sports and/or as an augmentation to a regular flowing yoga practice. Excellent for all levels.
