What is Yin ? One of our team members explains.
“ Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative practice consisting of long
holding floor postures.
Spending about 3-5 minutes in these passive postures allow the
benefits of the practice to move beyond the muscles and into the
deep layers of connective tissues in your body - the tendons,
fasciae and ligaments. Most poses physically work on the lower part
of the body - the hips, pelvis, inner thighs and lower spine, as
these areas are rich in
connective tissues. The classes are sequenced to stimulate the
channels of the subtle body known as “meridians” in Traditional
Chinese Medicine and as “nadis” in Hatha Yoga. Each posture
stimulates specific energy lines, each of which connects to your
organs and emotions. Yin Yoga increases energy flow and wellbeing
to your organs, restores and maintains mobility of the joints,
enhances emotional equilibrium, and prepares the body and mind for
meditation. Yin is a beautiful complementary practice to the more
invigorating, heated Bikram, Vinyasa and Fire Phiit classes offered
at the studio. It emphasizes stillness and silence and brings you
into a peaceful place within.” - Jackie Ryan
