Preparing You For Yoga - 3 week course
Dates: 23, 30 Jan and 6 Feb
Time: 11 - 1pm

“Yoga is not a religion but a technology for transformation” - Sadhguru

A Yoga Practice acknowledges you are not just a body, therefore it is important to be strong, healthy, and flexible of mind and have some kind of relationship with your spirit.

Yoga Postures are not just physical exercise, but a gentle way to manipulate your energy back to balance. The postures with breathing practices help to calm your nervous system preparing and training your ability to sit long enough with yourself in meditation practices where stillness and calmness can you connect with your true Self.

This course is designed to progress. The first week shows you how to prepare your body for the weeks ahead. Your teacher Tanya will show you how to modify the practice to accommodate any injuries or where you are not yet flexible.

During this 3-week course Tanya will share with you:
* What Yoga is, and why it’s not just a fitness class.
How breathing better can calm stress and anxiety. But also alert.
* Simple, essential movements to prepare your body for the stronger postures. As well as train your concentration, increase circulation. They help to remove the stiffness accumulated overnight or from a stationary, inactive lifestyle.
* How to hold yourself in better posture from the ground up. When we activate a greater amount of muscles there is less chance of over-straining or weakening lazy muscles.
* How to twist and do backbends to prevent back pain.
* How to protect your wrists, shoulders, and knees from improper weight-bearing.
* How we use props for optimal support.

The key to a lifelong practice in Yoga is not only starting off right but also regularly revisiting, the basics. This is fundamental to any strong practice. From Tanya’s AcroYoga (Acrobatic Partner Yoga) days where if you wanted to advance, you had to first go back and refine the basics. Going back to grassroots is essential to any kind of growth. Each time your revisit you build even more confidence towards a solid unshakeable foundation, most importantly, to prevent unnecessary injury. You also get to acknowledge your progression and from there your right direction to move forward.
