Asana Alternatives for Common Ailments Workshop
Learn how to build an asana alternatives program to
specifically address lower back pain to ultimately bring healing,
awareness, and great relief. We will look at specific healing
asanas for the lower back as well as key modifications for most
categories of asanas that alter the classical shapes of the poses
to directly address chronic back pain.
Mychal is a CIYT practicing and teaching in Nassau, Bahamas.
He has been directly trained by Lois Steinberg and has spent
several years travelling with and assisting her in her teaching in
North and South America. Under her guidance he has learnt how to
address common ailments/issues including chronic joint pain, yoga
for the menstrual cycle and pregnancy, and yoga for digestive
health. He has an ongoing Common Ailments Clinic in The Bahamas,
and has been a guest lecturer for students in the Physiotherapy PhD
program at the University of Central Arkansas for 2 years. He has
worked with clients both young and old to assist them in finding
healing and awareness through the practice of Iyengar
Yoga.
Recommended props are 2 chairs if possible, 1 at least, 2
bolsters, 6 blankets, 2 bricks, 1 sticky mat, and 2
belts.
