It has been proven that Yoga and Mindfulness have so many great
benefits for children who practice a regular class such as physical
benefits (gaining strength, flexibility and balance), mental
benefits (assisting them in focusing, better managing stress,
relaxing and “re-learning” how to breathe correctly through several
breathing techniques which also assist in the balance of the
nervous system). A regular practice of yoga in young children has
been also proven to help in social situations such as building self
confidence, self esteem, reaching out to others and knowing how to
deal better with confrontations.
I have seen all these positives benefits not only through my own
practice over the past years, my adults students but also with
children I have been teaching to.
My children classes include a mix of breathing awareness exercises,
stillness (with meditation and relaxation) but also movements
through yoga poses and interaction with others (partner poses and
yoga games). "
