Yoga Nidra (also known as yogic sleep) is an ancient guided meditation practice experienced comfortably while laying down. Yoga Nidra has been found to support healing and transformation, induce sleep, reduce insomnia, stress, anxiety, help with chronic pain, and reduce PTSD. On a deeper level, Yoga Nidra is a profoundly spiritual practice.
Yin Yoga targets the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body that normally are not exercised very much in a more active style of asana practice. Yin Yoga is a great way to find balance in your yoga practice. This quieter, more passive style of yoga can be challenging due to the longer duration of the poses held (we can remain in the postures anywhere from one to five minutes!). Yin and yang tissues respond quite differently to being exercised, you need to experience this to really know what Yin Yoga is all about. After you have experienced it, even just once, you will realize what you have been missing!
