Yin Yoga is a slow-paced practice that focuses on holding each individual pose for long periods of time. This gives you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and body. In the longer holds the body will respond to a slow steady load allowing a subtle release that takes you deeper into the pose. The depth is a response of the tissues lengthening, hydrating, and becoming more pliable. Lengthening and strengthening of the connective tissue around the joints, improving flexibility, and range of motion – mainly in the knees, pelvis, sacrum, and spine. By practicing these deep poses you will be opening any blockages and releasing energy flow. The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles.
