In this class, we will prepare the body for yoga nidra with gentle asana and pranayama and then you will be guided into the state of yoga nidra.

According to yoga there are 4 states of consciousness (waking, dreaming, sleeping and then turiya (the 4th state). Yoga Nidra is a state of consciousness that takes us ultimately between the waking and sleeping state with the goal to ultimately reside in the state of turiya. In this class we will be starting our yoga nidra practice with journaling, movement and then I will lead you through this effortless practice of Yoga Nidra (yoga sleep).

Although yoga nidra is beneficial to the nervous system, another benefit to this practice is clearing away the impressions we take in from our surroundings. I heard today on a news program that the notifications people receive on their devices account for 560 mental interruptions every day. If this is true, this does not include all the impressions we take in from what we actually focus on in our day to day lives. All of these impressions can create a turbulent mind and lead us further away from our true nature.
