Hatha yoga is a powerful tool for self-transformation. Linking breath and movement you will learn to still the fluctuations of the mind and be more present in the moment. Hatha is translated as "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon." This refers to the balance of masculine aspects (active/sun), and feminine aspects (receptive/moon) within all of us. Learn and practice the traditional techniques of: Pranayama (directing of Life Force), Kumbhaka (breath retention), Bandha (energetic locks), Mantra/Nada (chanting externally and internally), Bhavana (visualization/awareness of Life Force), and Dhyana (Meditation). All students are welcome, but it may be helpful to have at least a 3-6 month practice. Modifications are suggested to address injuries and limitations. This class is best suited for those interested in learning some of the deeper teachings of yoga and enjoy a slower paced class. Students will have clear instruction on how to safely move from standing to the floor.
