This workshop series will gently ease you into yoga, giving
you a strong foundation, so you can feel confident going into yoga
classes, knowing you'll know enough to blend in and find the best
experience for you.
Over the course of the program you'll learn…
- What is yoga (and what it's not.)
- What are the benefits of yoga?
- Basic yoga poses that are found commonly in classes.
- How to adapt the yoga to make it work for your body.
- How to breathe and why it's so important.
- How to sit comfortably.
- Six movements of the spine.
- Props you can use at home.
- Why we rest at the end of class.
This is an in person workshop only. We'll start each class
with a short talk and Q&A so you'll be sure to get your
questions answered. Then we'll practice some yoga, to give you an
experiential understanding of what the lecture was about. We'll end
with rest and meditation.
COVID Precautions: This is an in person workshop only, with a
set cohort of students. Windows will be open for good airflow and
masks are not required for vaccinated individuals. While practicing
we will follow the 3 foot spacing guidelines.
To join this class, you'll need to provide your own yoga mat.
You may use our yoga blocks, as long as you are willing to spray
them down with alcohol sanitizer at the end of class. If you want
to use a bolster, bring two clean pillow cases to cover it.
