We are raising money to help our friends Julio & Milagro and their two children Belén (6) and Axel (almost 2). They have applied for asylum and are working with a wonderful lawyer who is charging rock-bottom prices for a high level of expertise. We raised $5000 with our last three classes, enough to pay for legal fees through this summer. THANK YOU, EVERYONE!

Now we'd like to raise an additional $2000 in order to bring them fully up to date on their rent.

Suggested donation for the 1.5-hour class & celebration is $20 — give more if you can to help us reach our goal!

This lovely and loving family, Julio and Milagro (parents) and Belén and Axel (children), need your help to avoid being sent back to Honduras where they face grave danger.

In their home country, through no fault of their own, they were victims of gang intimidation over a period of years. Ultimately, Julio was subjected to torture, forcing them to flee for their lives to the US where they have applied for asylum. Julio and Milagro are doing everything possible to give their two bright and beautiful children (who are now 6 and 1) a safe and healthy upbringing.

María Elena Montero is a recent graduate of the Willow Street 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program. She first discovered yoga as way to manage back pain, but quickly fell in love with the simple connection to breath. Seeking a deeper connection to yoga, she completed teacher training. María Elena infuses joy, humor and strength in her practice and in her teaching, remembering that all you ever have to do is breathe (and eat chocolate).
