Yin is a deeply meditative practice in which the postures are
held passively, on the floor, using props, blankets and bolsters.
Poses are held for three minutes or more during which the student
relaxes in the pose and softens the muscles, applying moderate
stress to the connective tissues of the body, the tendons, fascia,
and ligaments, thus increasing circulation in the joints and
improving flexibility. With the help of gravity and time, we allow
the body and the mind to come to stillness. This class is a great
antidote to the stiffness caused by sitting much of the day. It's a
great way to begin your exploration of yoga or to balance your yang
yoga practice.
