Yoga meditation is the practice of training your mind, clearing the filters that distort perception, and strengthening your attention. This 10-hour workshop will include an introduction the psychology of yoga, review of yoga philosophy (dyana and samadhi), mindfulness, and yoga nidra. This workshop will include lecture, group discussion, and guided practices. You will leave this workshop with data on how meditation affects brain function and an experience of guided meditation. Additional resources will be provided to participants. Participants are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, a practice mat, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training. This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing their mental focus or learning techniques for teaching meditation.
This class will be led by Dr. Kim Allen, a certified 500-hour teacher and 500-hour yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute. Kim has her doctorate in Health Education and has been teaching yoga since 1996 to a wide range of specialty populations.
