This yoga asana practice works with the upward flow of energy through the chakra energy system. It is called Kundalini Tantra and is a vein of traditional Hatha Yoga. Being closer to a traditional Hatha sequence it will not contain much ‘flow’ coming from Vinyasa influences. Instead this sequence focuses on the extended comfortable holding of Asana (posture) that have been known to aid in the flow and funnelling of both telluric (earth) and cosmic energy towards different centres of the body, the 7 chakras. Moving through different Asana we will focus attention, perception, breath, and energy individually towards each of the 7 chakras, starting from the root (muladhara) and rising up to the crown (sahashrara). The cultivation of grounding, vitality, creativity, discipline, clear seeing, love, aspiration, amongst other aspects will be found as we move through the 7 chakras.
The Asana-s will not be overly difficult for the body, but the real practice comes with the softening and deepening into the perception of energy being worked with in each extended hold. A meditation with every asana into feeling, receiving, and giving.
Each practice will begin with a warm up, a brief pranayama (breath practice) and a consecration of practice with intention before moving into the asana-s.
