Beyond the Status Quo—The Music of the Beatles
Music with Power, Heart and Soul.
The Beatles transformed rock-n-roll into an art form, but their
advancements did not confine them or define them. The Beatles did
not stop to consolidate, to establish the rules, or to play it safe
and protect their progress, but continued to evolve and stay
progressive. As George Harrison said, “You don't get time to hang a
sign on me.” Their innovations, skill and hard work led to the rise
of rock-n-roll as an art form. The Beatles music was a prominent
part of 60s culture and social change. With the Beatles, rock-music
lyrics expanded from standard themes to deliver a potent political
message, too. This is not a lecture, but a gentle/moderate yoga
class with Beatle's music and commentary.
Led by yoga instructor Mike Curtis, who studied music in college
and who now teaches guitar at Malone University. Mike also taught
guitar for 20 years at The College of Wooster.
