Healing occurs through real rest. We must learn to balance our fast paced lifestyles with rest for optimal health. Restorative yoga is the path towards healing the body and calming the mind. Restorative poses are held for longer amounts of time (5-10 minutes) and completely supported by props to bring the body into a grounded position, without stress or strain. Restorative poses increase range of joint mobility, while reducing pain and the physical effects of stress on our bodies. Holding restorative poses can lower anxiety levels, calm the fight or flight response and lessen the outpouring of stress-induced adrenalin. Restorative yoga is the state in which deep healing can occur on many levels. This workshop will leave students feeling rested, nourished and refreshed. Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) and essential oil therapy is also incorporated throughout the class. Attendees will receive a full description of the restorative sequence with benefits to take with them and practice at home. All levels of yoga experience are welcome.
