Yin yoga allows you to tune in to the feedback provided by the body and choose a shape that best supports you; knowing that every body, every emotional state, and every mind is not the same. This practice emphasizes stillness and silence; preparing the body and mind for deeper experiences in meditation. Yin yoga, often referred to as “the other half of yoga”, is a complementary practice to more dynamic styles of yoga. Postures are lower to the ground and are passively held for several minutes in order positively “stress” the deep layers of connective tissues in the body. Physical benefits of yin yoga include restoring and maintaining mobility to the joints, primarily between the naval and the knees. Energetically, Yin yoga opens the body’s meridian system, this allows body’s energetic flow and supports emotional equilibrium.
