Inner Silence (Antar Mouna) is a yogic meditation technique that works systematically to both witness and process the movements (vrittis) of the mind. During the 7 stages of the practice you are led through various instructions which support one's awareness to become increasingly refined. Learning to observe thoughts and feelings arising is a key part of this practice - developing the quality of a witness. Another aspect explored is the opportunity to consciously work with specific thoughts and topics as part of this process - in order to move towards a state of inner silence we need to give space to all of the 'stuff' that occupies us on a consicous and even subconscious level. Finally, once we have worked with all of the 'stuff', we practice the technique of bringing one's mind to one point (dharana), thus creating an inner sense of stillness and silence.
During this 6 week course we will be learning this powerful practice in stages, ensuring a proper grounding in each stage before we move on to the next one.
The course is suitable for those who have some experience of meditation and are looking for new techniques and also newcomers are welcome.
Each session will involve a bit of movement and stretching and some yogic breathwork(pranayama) to prepare us for the seated meditation. Meditation cushions and chairs are both available at the centre and you are also welcome to lie down comfortably if sitting for a period of time is not accessible to you. Handouts will be provided each week and the practice will be recorded so that you can practice on your own at home. By the end of the session you will have the complete audio practice plus a short practice manual to work from in the future.
Please note our 4 tiers payment system is available for this course: Standard Rate - £90; Support Rate - £63; Solidarity Rate - £18; Sponsor Rate - £105.
