YTT 300 - Sensory Awareness + Yoga: The Missing Link for Trauma
With Barb Leese and Dr. Jackie Ang
Learn how and why yoga and
sensory awareness create a trauma-informed approach to yoga
practice that promotes healing, fosters agency and empowers you and
others you are supporting. Discover how to bring trauma-informed
logic, languaging, cueing and sequencing to the
instruction/facilitation of a yoga practice within a group and
individual setting. Understand the benefits of yoga through the
lens of contemporary neuroscience and
psychotherapy.
In this training, you will:
- Understand the science of trauma and how
it impacts all human beings through the effects it has on our body,
mind and nervous system.
- Experience body-based tools from yoga
and somatic therapy to support the effects of stress on the nervous
system
- Learn how to embody a trauma-informed
approach in your practice and teaching
- The relevant applications of yoga to support and resolve daily stress and traumatic stress.
In-session practicum:
- Group and partner work exploring
approach and sequencing effects on nervous
system
- Use of invitational
language
- Personal feedback and
guidance
