ZIGGY STARDUST ROCK CAMP
“The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” by none other than David Bowie
This rock camp marks
an important anniversary in the life of Beacon Music Factory, and
our shared lives in Beacon.
Ten years ago, BMF offered ‘Ziggy
Stardust’ — our first-ever Album Rock Camp for adults. The rest is
kinda history. It had been one thing to offer rock band camps,
quite another to take on whole albums. With Ziggy, we set our
extraordinary course, and we are psyched to commemorate the moment
by reprising it now.
This iconic 1972 concept album/rock opera, features Ziggy Stardust, Bowie's alter ego, a fictional androgynous and bisexual rock star who is sent to Earth as a saviour before an impending apocalyptic disaster. Our hero is inspired by glam rock, proto punk and the likes of T Rex, Iggy Pop, and guitarist Mick Ronson. Bowie and Ronson also produced and played on Lou Reed’s Transformer album in the very same year. Just listen to these records side-by-side. That’s why Transformer is another favorite around here. All Hail 1972!
