JAI Yin and Yang is a class that balances a Yin yoga practice for the first half of the class with traditional Yang yoga practices for the second half of the class. This class can provide you with a practice that starts with deep, introspective, and quiet that evolves to energize and uplift you for the rest of your day.
Yin Yoga invites you to slow down and create space for stillness while nourishing joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. Yin, the feminine principle: dark, passive, receptive, reflective, withdrawn, cool, quietest, stillest moments. Yang yoga is the more traditional hatha or ashtanga based asana practice that develops muscular strength, stamina, and flexibility. Yang, the masculine principle: light, active, outward and upward moving, hot.
This class will start on the floor using as many props needed to create as little effort while holding poses. Poses are held for 5 - 7 minutes allowing joints and fascia to release. This will open and release areas in need; to penetrate deep into connective tissue expanding flexibility and aiding healing. It will then move to a more active, dynamic flow with a focus on breath, movement, and alignment to strengthen and tone.
