Aerial Sling is a dynamic apparatus that is an aerial silk tied into a long hammock. This unique class allows students to utilize the hammock to climb, wrap and tie around the body to create fun poses, entrances and exits, transitions, small drops and dance movement.
This class is designed for those students who have taken Sling 1 (or any other level 1 apparatus) and want to further their skills! We will be working on more advanced wraps, inversions, splits and drops. Sling theory will be covered in more detail and students will learn all the basic wrap dynamics.
Prerequisites (Must have instructor approval and ability to execute the below cleanly and with good technique):
-Pullover from ground
-Crucifix to straddle back, no jumping
-Aviator
-Gazelle on both sides
-Hipkey
(Note: Aerial Sling is different from Aerial yoga but there are some similarities. They both utilize a silks hammock and are single point apparatus. The Aerial Sling class focuses more on continuous movement in the air and hammock while using a swivel to spin. Aerial Yoga classes uses a combination of grounding poses with the hammock to assist and remains static. Silks theory is covered in both curriculums. Sling is a traditional aerial apparatus and aerial yoga is a yoga practice designed around the hammock.)
