This is a beginner roller skating
dance/fitness class. The class is suitable for anyone, including
beginners. Some previous (even limited) experience on roller
skates is beneficial, though not required.
The class will focus on learning to balance on wheels, weight
transfer, and beginner skate dance
moves, including beginner roller skating choreography with fun music. Try your first
class free and then sign up for this super fun 6-week series.
This class series is taught by Amy Gecan. Amy started roller
skating as a child in the 80's and
90's but took a very long break until November 2020. She's
been skating regularly since
then, has a passion for dance skating and can't wait to share it with others in
the community!
If this sounds like fun to you, don't let funding be a
deterrent. Limited scholarships are available.
Please note - It is very common and expected to fall down when
learning to roller skate. Wearing
safety gear will help prevent injuries. See the “Special
Instructions” for more information.
Equipment: Students must bring their own
roller skates (quad skates - the old school kind with 4 wheels on
each skate), and wrist guards are
mandatory. Knee pads are strongly encouraged for beginners, but not
required.
