The human body can be subdivided in 14 skeletal segments and 10 myofascial groups. These regions are the target areas of all yin yoga poses. Understanding these segments and groups makes it quite simple to design and teach yin yoga classes.
This course will present these target areas are exercised by the 7 archetypal yin poses.
A functional approach to yoga that emphasizes skeletal variation and target areas is simpler, safer, and more effective than the various contradictory ‘rules of alignment’ floating around in the yoga world. Basing the practice of yoga on the science of anatomy gives the student a solid foundation for all their future studies.
Students should have two years yoga experience and should bring blankets or pads so they can be comfortable practicing floor postures. If weather is chilly be sure to dress in comfortable clothes. CEU's available.
