Yin Yoga for Late Summer
Aug 14, 2024 - Aug 14, 2024

Join Ashleigh for a 90-minute Yin Yoga practice in conjunction with the fifth season, Late Summer, which spans from the hazy days following the peak of summer to the start of fall (roughly August - September). According to Traditional Chinese Medicine & the 5-element philosophy, each of the seasons is ruled by an element, and the season of late summer is ruled by the element of Earth.

This time of year invites us to return to our foundation and practice inner ease. This season is a time of groundedness, nourishment, warmth, harvest, gratitude, & returning to our center. It is a time to take stock of all the beauty summer has brought us, and to relish in the nourishment we may feel.

This traditional Yin practice will be woven with wisdom from the Chinese Meridian Theory & corresponding 5-element theory, focused on stimulating both the Spleen & Stomach Meridians (energy lines running through the inner legs, outer legs, outer hips, and belly) during this earthy time of year. We'll practice yin yoga postures and discuss themes that will help create inner balance during this upcoming season.

In this particular yin practice we will explore themes related to the season of late summer and will be particularly grounding. My hope is that practitioners can call upon the themes explored & poses practiced during the session all season long - using them as tools to find balance on & off their mats throughout the next few months.

This practice will be calming in nature, utilizing classic Yin Yoga postures throughout, and open to all levels. The studio will be candlelit and the sequence set to peaceful music. Yoga bolsters, blocks, and blankets provided, but feel free to bring your own props or extra props as wanted.

Yin Yoga for Autumn
Oct 16, 2024 - Oct 16, 2024

Join Ashleigh for a 90-minute Yin Yoga practice in conjunction with the upcoming season of Autumn. As the days continue to shorten and nature begins its big sigh out, we are surrounded by signs of descent and release. During this practice, we’ll align ourselves with the qualities of Autumn that we may also be experiencing within the inner landscapes of our own lives.

This traditional Yin Yoga practice will be woven with wisdom from Chinese Meridian Theory & the 5-element philosophy, focused on stimulating the Lung & Large Intestine meridians (energy lines) to create greater inner balance and harmony during this time of year. During Autumn we may feel called to linger a bit longer, shift inward, grieve, and perhaps become more introverted as we process the end of another life cycle. During this particular practice, we’ll explore themes of tuning inward, slowing down, processing, nervous system regulation, and letting go.

This practice will be restorative in nature, and open to all levels. The studio will be candlelit and the sequence set to peaceful music. Yoga bolsters, blankets, and blocks provided - feel free to bring your favorite props from home as wanted. My hope is that practitioners call upon this practice all Autumn long - using principles discussed or postures explored as needed, to find balance during these upcoming months.
