Do you have an energetic child with nothing to do on school PD Days? In our PD Day Circus Camp programming, your child will learn how to move in the air as they work through instructed choreography with highlights from our aerial curriculum in disciplines such as aerial hammock, silks, hoop, and trapeze. Back on the ground, they will develop a better understanding of how their body moves, teamwork, and elements of performance as they are led through fun group activities. They will develop their fine motor skills with lessons in object manipulation using a number of juggling props including scarves, balls, flower sticks, spinning plates, and poi, and gross motor skills with lessons in introductory ground acrobatics, dance, and hula hoop. They will explore teamwork and social dynamics and build confidence with lessons in theatre, clowning, and active games. At the end of the day there will be a Show & Share for parents and guardians to come and see all the amazing work the students have achieved.
Your child will receive skilled instruction in a welcoming and non-competitive recreational environment as they are kept active and engaged in safely learning a variety of circus disciplines at an age and skill appropriate level. In keeping with the true spirit of circus, our programing will allow your child to develop their creativity, confidence, and a taste for performance as they build on their communication and teamwork skills, self-determination, mindfulness, and develop a sense of perseverance and resiliency that they can bring with them to all future endeavours! Participants will be building fundamental skills, and every student will be able to shine and progress at their own pace.
Though many activities during camp will be with the whole group together, campers may be broken out into smaller groups for some activities according to age and/or experience.
No experience required. All abilities are welcome.
You don't have to run away to join the circus! Our summer camps offer the opportunity for your child to experience a taste of the circus with a well-rounded spectrum of circus disciplines! These camps are intended for students aged 7 - 14. No experience is necessary, but experienced students will still be challenged and engaged by our camp programming. For new students, camp is also the perfect introduction to our weekly kids and youth curriculum classes offered during the fall and winter seasons. Our camps are led by experienced circus educators with small teacher to student ratios ensuring lots of individual attention. Give your children a truly unique physical and creative outlet this summer!
During this full-day (9am-4pm), week-long
(Monday-Friday) camp, your child will have the opportunity to learn
skills on all the foundational aerial apparatuses, including aerial
hammock, silks, hoop and dance trapeze! They will also develop
their fine motor skills with lessons in object manipulation using a
number of juggling props including scarves, balls, flower sticks,
spinning plates, poi, and hula hoops, and gross motor skills with
lessons in introductory ground acrobatics and tumbling.
Physical activity will be moderated with times for rest and
regulation, including outdoor time (weather permitting), social
time, quiet games, stretching, and even meditation, giving
participants the chance to explore the world of circus from many
perspectives.
