In this class, we will be covering pin and release techniques for the upper and lower body. This technique works well for your regular clients and for athletes.

Pin and release or better known as Pin and Stretch or
ART (chiropractors), is a movement based muscle lengthening technique that is highly effective treating problems with:
muscle and tendons
ligaments and fascia

Pinning the muscle with sliding force:
increases movement of the tissue
breaks up and removes adhesions

Pin and release is highly effective for:
overused muscles
repetitive use injuries (especially with athletes)
scar tissue

By applying focused pressure while the client performs specific motions to lengthen the tissue in these targeted areas, underlying tissue can be released.

Releases can be passive or active where client participation is necessary.

Hands-on class and participative.
Come learn Pin and Release!

Specializing in headaches can be a very good business decision, and an even better hands-on choice!

Over 45 million Americans (about one in six) suffer chronic headaches each year. Headaches therefore have a big economic impact — when you have a throbbing pain in your head, it's hard to work. The cost of these headaches in absenteeism and medical expenses is estimated as high as $50 billion per year. Annually, people seeking treatment for headache pain account for 8 million consultations with physicians.

There are multiple causes of headaches and while most of these causes are not in the domain of massage therapy, tension and structural causes which account for many, are.

Join us for a comprehensive look at headaches and a surefire treatment plan for headache sufferers regardless of the cause. We have created a sophisticated massage therapy protocol for headache relief combining medical massage techniques like trigger point therapy, connective and deep tissue bodywork with traditional shiatsu for the neck, shoulders and upper back.

Great class! Opened my eyes to so many new techniques, especially practitioner saving techniques!! — Angie Pyatt, LMT

Course Difficulty Level Beginner

Craniosacral Therapy is a whole-body hand on application of gentle palpation, traction, compression, and rocking. With this modality you can relieve or “release” the stress and restrictions that may impair nervous system function. Dr. Sutherland, an Osteopath in the 1950’s was the father of craniosacral therapy in the United States. It was designed as a systematic approach gentle touch to bring balance to the central nervous system. Craniosacral work is not a diagnosis. It is a way to listen to the patient body and optimize functional movement with little force. During a session the body is free to move into new space and increase range of motion. Patients enjoy a calming experience. The subtle movements and relaxation assist the body’s natural self-correcting mechanism.
This work is intended for adult patients only. This module I introduces the massage therapist to the application of craniosacral techniques at a basic level of palpation and assessment.

Learning Outcomes: Practitioners upon completion of this module will be able to incorporate craniosacral techniques from a holistic approach and be able to utilize protocols of both Dr. Upledger and Hugh Milne into a massage session.
