Using a combination of research-based approaches and gentle yoga, we will explore the ways Yoga, stretching, movement, and breathing techniques can support the lymphatic system and general wellness. This first session has been designed with breast cancer survivors in mind, but is suitable for anyone interested in lymphatic flow. We will also touch on the use of affirmations, guided visualization, mindfulness, restorative yoga, and other related topics to enhance your learning experience. Facilitated by Cindy Winick, a breast cancer survivor and a physcial trauma survivor who uses these techniques to manage lymphedma.
Join Bethany Santos and Matthew DeRubertis for an all-levels Kundalini Yoga practice with live music & sound to commemorate the summer solstice and activate your inner radiance! This practice will be a wonderful way to celebrate the season of warmth, activity, and light. Bethany will lead the practice while Matthew provides live sound and music with string instruments, bowls, gong, chimes, and more.
Iced Delīon lattes (a yogic tea made by Matthew) and light refreshments will be available post-practice. Sat nam!
Juneteenth is the longest-running African American holiday, which commemorates the official end to slavery in the United States. Though it has been celebrated for many years, it was finally named a federal holiday in 2021. Join us to celebrate!
Tammi Ramos will lead a special Gentle Yoga class, which offers a slower-paced practice in a relaxed setting. Gentle Yoga is accessible for every body and all experience levels, and is therefore a good entry point for new students. This class will create balance in the body and enhance mental focus.
Class will be followed by a brief discussion. How do you celebrate your culture & heritage? What would it be like to be accepting and respectful of our differences, rather than judgmental? Everyone is affected by racial stereotypes and biases. We reach out and invite all people to share their stories and connect in this Safe Space. Your voices are powerful; we wish to elevate them and listen deeply.
Hands-On Assisting & Adjusting for Yoga Teachers (Taught by Mike Curtis, “One of my favorite workshops!”)
This is the study and practice of informed touch. We’ll practice safely and effectively giving assistance with a variety of poses. Touch is another way to share information. Touch can provide guidance, support, affirmation, and more. Touch is another way for teachers to be attentive and connected with the class.
Saturday, June 22nd, from 2-5 pm, at Yoga Central.
$40 regular, $20 for staff, free for YTT students
