Enjoy some time away, bring the kids to the dojo to play!
Parents' Night Out is four hours of Aikido games and activities, crafts, pizza, and a movie for kids ages 5 and up, while you parents enjoy some time to yourselves. We will provide pizza and juice or soda. If you need us to accommodate special diet needs, please let us know in advance.
No Aikido experience needed, siblings and friends are welcome!
We will enjoy martial
arts-themed obstacle courses and games, but will not be practicing
technical skills (unless requested by students during down time.)
Aikido uniforms are not necessary for this event however feel free
to bring a blanket and pillow for movie time. Invite your
friends!
It is not necessary to arrive right at 5:00 or stay till 9pm, however please notify us by phone or text if you wish to drop off/pick up at an alternate time. For the safety of all who hang around our dojo during off hours, we lock the door.

Please bring $20 for one child ($10 for additional children in groups of 2 or more.)
This event is recommended for children ages 5 and up. If you would like for your younger child to attend, please discuss with Laura Hackle (941) 404-5801. Exceptions can be made on a case by case basis.

Mark Larson Shihan (Takuto) began practicing Aikido in 1992, after years of competitive athletics including ice hockey, Wing Chun kung fu and Goju-ryu karate. Over a period of ten years, he studied numerous times as uchideshi (dojo live-in student,) and lived at the Founder’s Dojo for over four years of residential training under Morihiro Saito Shihan.
He is the founder and chief instructor of Minnesota Aiki Shuren Dojo, Nowthen, MN, and technical advisor for a number of Aikido Dojos in the USA and Japan as well as Canada, Denmark, and Sweden.
Larson Shihan currently holds a 7th degree black belt in Aikido (nanadan) from the World Aikido Federation (Aikikai) Headquarters, Tokyo, Japan, led by the current Aikido Doshu Sensei, Moriteru Ueshiba (1951- ), presented to Mark L. Larson on January 12, 2025, at the Hombu Dojo Kagami-biraki ceremony and celebration in Tokyo, Japan.
