These 20-hour Foundational Trainings from the Center for Trauma and Embodiment (Brookline, MA) are intended to support yoga teachers and therapists to make their work more trauma-informed and to support those working in the mental health field to bring the body into treatment when working with people affected by PTSD, developmental and/or complex trauma.
November 18-20, 2022
Friday November 18, 5-8 pm
November 19, 9-12 & 2-6
November 20, 9-12 & 2-6
The training will provide specific tools to support participants to facilitate trauma-sensitive movement and breath practices, and will emphasize the core components of the practice and process of trauma sensitive yoga, and how they relate to any anti-oppressive and trauma sensitive work.
TCTSY has foundations in trauma theory, attachment theory, neuroscience, and hatha yoga.
In 2017, TCTSY became the first dedicated yoga program listed as an evidence-based program/practice for the treatment of psychological trauma. By focusing on the felt sense of the body to inform choice-making, TCTSY allows participants to restore their connection of mind and body and cultivate a sense of agency that is often compromised as a result of trauma.
This is the primary pre-training required to apply to the 300-hour Certification Program in TCTSY. Topics of study include:
- Trauma Theory, Attachment Theory and Neuroscience
• Neurophysiology & Biology of Stress and Trauma (How Trauma Impacts the Brain)
• Spectrum of Trauma Impacts & Complex Trauma as Lived Experience
• Power, Oppression, & Intersectionality
• Building Trauma Sensitive Relationships
• TCTSY Practice and Practice Facilitation
• Key Elements of TCTSY Methodology
• Challenges in Implementing TCTSY
• Overview of Research & Studies on TCTSY
