In this 3-part workshop series we will work to foster connection to and compassion for our bodies and their capabilities. Learn specific tools and strategies to support you in your pregnancy comfort, facilitate your birth experience and guide you towards resources for optimizing your postpartum recovery. We will talk, move and have the opportunity to address fears and concerns amongst a community of supportive women. This series is designed for expectant mamas in all stages of pregnancy! Come to individual workshops ($40/session) or save 20% if you attend all three ($90 for all three.)

Sundays from 3-5pm:

March 10th: Pelvic Health in Pregnancy: Making connections and optimizing comfort

You will learn about:

- What our deep core system is (structure and function)

- How our core changes in pregnancy

- How this contributes to common aches and pains that we experience during pregnancy

- Strategies for alleviating discomfort in pregnancy and optimizing recovery

March 24th: Pelvic Health in Childbirth: Functional movement for working with your baby

You will learn about:

- Strategies for preparing the pelvic floor during late stage pregnancy

- Physiological changes that occur during the childbirth process: The hormone dance and how we can help it along

- Practicing movement: Connecting to your inner primate during 1st stage of labour

- Pelvic health considerations when it’s time to push

*Dress comfortably and be prepared for some dancing!*

April 7th: Pain Science 101 for Birth

You will learn about:

- The impact of fear in childbirth and strategies to optimize feelings of safety

- The neurophysiology of pain and how this shows up in childbirth

- The importance of building a diverse labor toolbox

- Some pain management strategies and comfort measures to get you started

Lara Desrosiers is a mother of two and owner of Pelvic Resilience, a private Occupational Therapy service with a passion for supporting women in pelvic health recovery at all stages of life including perinatal transitions. Lara is a mental health clinician and has jumped in wholeheartedly to the core and pelvic health world in her continuing education over the last couple of years. She was motivated to do so by her own pelvic health journey in which she saw a clear role for occupational therapy due to ALL of the ways that our pelvic health can affect our ability to engage in our day to day lives, our relationships, and can be tied to our emotional wellness. Knowing our bodies, trusting our bodies, and being present in our bodies breeds resilience during times of transition and growth. The Art of Breathing

This two-part pranayama workshop explores the art of breathing. Understand the anatomy of breathing, enjoy a short movement practice to open the body and learn three different breathing practices per session. The first class will explore the basics of belly-based pranayama, and the second class will build on that foundation. If you are already familiar with the basics, you are welcome to just attend the second class.

Class 1 will include Belly Breathing, Three-part Yogic Breath and Square Breathing

Class 2 will focus on Nadi Shodhana, Ujjayi, Brahmari and Kapalabhati.

Every day we take 20,000 breaths that oxygenate our blood and support internal healing and repair. Proper breathing helps to reduce muscle pain, improve sleep and assist immune function as well as increase feelings of relaxation and mental calmness. Don't be intimidated by the Sanskrit names. Yoga on the other hand is an ancient discipline that focuses on spiritual, mental, and physical improvement. What happens when you mix the two? You get Beatz Yoga! The focus is to have fun and to learn a yoga sequence which incorporates movement to the rhythm and beat of the music. The music will consist of current and old school pop, hip-hop, rap, trap and trance, dance music from all over the world; anything to get the body riding the waves of the beats and rhythms from one asana to the next. You will discover that yoga and dance are one. Beatz Yoga is medicine; we will release, we will bless, we will transform, we will heal, and we will have fun! The space will be sacred and inviting, with lots of permission to be guided by inner rhythm and self-expression. This fun and deeply moving practice will connect us with the pulse of creation while offering all the benefits of a cardiovascular workout and yoga session. No experience in yoga or dance is necessary. Expect an increased love and respect for the body!!

Included in your ticket price is a full 75-minute Beatz Yoga Session led by instructor Sandra, complete with a cool down and meditation period, followed by wine, tapas, conversation, and if the heart desires, more dancing! Hey, the heart wants what the heart wants, who are we to deny it?

Kids Yoga (senior)

This 6-week course will prepare your child to grow their yoga practice. This class will focus on yoga fundamentals, teaching them poses and sequences they can expect as they transition into Teen and Adult classes. Weekly, we will take time to build a mindfulness practice to learn strategies to take breaks and self-soothe during the challenging transition between childhood and adulthood.
